Comprehensive eye examination

A complete check-up for your eyes.

We test how clearly you see and take a detailed look at the health of your eyes. This helps us find vision problems and early signs of eye disease, often before you notice any symptoms.

Every exam is thorough and personal. You leave with a clear picture of your vision and eye health, and advice on any care you need.

What your examination includes

  • Vision assessment: how clearly you see at different distances.
  • Eye health evaluation: the overall health of your eyes.
  • Refraction: finding the right prescription for glasses or contact lenses.
  • Eye pressure measurement: part of assessing your risk of glaucoma.
  • Binocular vision assessment: how well your eyes work together.
  • Eye disease screening: early signs of glaucoma, cataracts and other eye conditions.

Depending on what we find, your optometrist may recommend further tests, such as a visual field test or a full glaucoma assessment.

Why it matters

Many eye diseases, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, develop silently. Regular exams let us find them early, when treatment works best.

Keeping your eyes healthy takes more than a vision check.

Common questions

What should I expect at my first consultation?

We’ll ask about your eyes and general health, run vision and eye-health tests, then explain the results and your options before you leave.

How often should I have an eye exam?

Most adults should have an eye exam every one to two years. Have one more often if you’re over 60 or have diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of glaucoma. Your optometrist will tell you what’s right for you.
